The Immortal Empress has been dead for almost fifty years now. The Empire is shattered into isolated city-states. Magic and religion, forbidden under Her millenial reign, are once again being practiced. Nothing is as it once was, but those few whom history will call heroes have a chance to sway the destiny of the world entire.
Arete is currently pre-alpha. That means that vast sections of the code are unfinished and the game is not even playable yet. Don't bother signing up. It may or may not 'work,' but it certainly won't get you into the game.

I will try to keep the latest sample turn report available for comment. Let me know (on the dev list) what is wrong with it.

Reports and acknowledgements will be sent to whatever address you send the add order from, so be sure it is the one you want to play from.
Feel free to join either the playtest mailing list or the development mailing list at phlange.com. The playtest mailing list is for in-game concerns and the development mailing list is for meta-game concerns (ie. bug reports and feature requests).
By playing Arete, you are agreeing to uphold certain standards of behaviour, specifically:
If you are found violating any of these standards, you will be removed from the game, no questions asked.
Arete is in the playtest stage and is far from complete. This means that I may occasionally have to clear the database, destroying all your hard work. I will try not to do so, but if such a thing is intolerable to you, you should wait to play until the game is stabilized.
